Ozzfest 2008

i had given up on going to ozzfest this year.

saturday morning i woke up to an email that read "Kracker you will have 2 - tickets @ will-call on Ozzy guest list ." so of course i got on the phone and got strongman kris all hyped up and ready to go.

by the time we got there we pretty much missed drowning pool's set. i'm sure it was awesome. those guys rock.

the rest of the day is pretty much a blur. it was hot. it was loud. and it was crowded, had to have been at least twice as crowded as either edgefest i've attended there. metal is not dead.

i'll try to recap the rest of the bands we saw.

cavalera conspiracy - those guys were awesome! i was unaware that they were former members of sepultura. i definately enjoyed their set.

johnathan davis - dude, you need to stick to what we know. play with korn. that solo shit drove us right out of the stadium to catch sevendust.

sevendust - we didn't get too close to the action of sevendust on a side stage. it was way crowded, and when you can hear just fine while standing next to the clubhouse booth, you do that :) sevendust rocked.

hellyeah - i enjoyed hellyeah's set. their sound was good and i like their music. the dimebage tribute got a little strung out though. they should have made sure we were all aware of who come out to play tribute, some of us are pretty blind. i know i saw scott ian out there, and somebody said rob zombie was there too.

serj tankian - sounded good, but it took us his whole set to get a hotdog and a water. note to the people who run the concession stands, if you are not allowed to give people the bottles buy cups big enough to hold all the water/gatorade.

Ozzy! - wow! he started early and went late, and rocked every last bit of it!

after ozzy they did fireworks, better fireworks show than we saw at BB's lake for the 4th of july.

Metallica! - their ability to record new music worth listening to may have faded away years ago, but their ability to get on stage and rock out the old shit is second to none. for probably the first hour, the only thing they played off an album newer than "master of puppets" was one new song (that sucked). then they did a few songs off of the black album, and "one" (pyro galore for that). they capped of the night with seek and destroy.

what a day!
